Artist Statement
My original design, rib-style antler basket sculptures are a study in the possibilities of creating one-of-a-kind, asymmetrical, contemporary pieces; using the antler as the focal point, working with both hand-gathered natural materials and commercially prepared rattan reed.
Gathering and processing natural materials used in my artwork keeps me grounded and in contact with nature; while creating and weaving the basket satisfies my artistic need to express myself.
