I've been taking photos since junior high school and my first love is black and white film. Another love is architecture, in particular Art Deco. Soon after I moved to Reno NV five and a half years ago, I visited Sacramento CA for the first time.
I was entranced by the Tower Bridge, a rare Streamline Moderne design from 1935, which is the symbol of Sacramento. After several more trips to Sacramento, the idea occurred to me to photograph it using my favorite B&W film, Ilford XP2, with my medium format Bronica ETRS, a wide angle lens, and a red filter to blacken the sky. Using this setup, I was able to create multiple dramatic, original and sometimes semi abstract images.
