Artist Biography
Stephanie Lawing lives and works as an artist in Virginia Beach, VA. An established painter, she graduated from Roanoke College with her B.A. in Art Communications and continued to refine her focus to receive her M.F.A. in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design.
Stephanie recently displayed a six-month, solo exhibition at the Sandler Center of Performing Arts in Virginia Beach, VA. The exhibit Florabunda: A Painted Garden, was inspired by her nearby Norfolk Botanical Gardens and the culmination of 3 years’ work. She developed a drive to create works that simply bring out a lighter side of our lives and brings out something colorful with big, fresh, beautiful blooms.
While appearing somewhat familiar, Stephanie shows botanical painting from an uncommon perspective. She strives to bring the outdoors inside, and fold nature into interior design – a contemporary take on art easily understood by all.
