Artist Biography
Jaren Dahlstrom is best known for his acrylic paintings of reflections, which form abstractions derived from transient movement of light and water that is so often overlooked. These distortions created in a moment of time are never quite the same. In this fusion of light and water patterns are created, lines twisted, and color intensified. Using these images forms the basis for further manipulation in his computer to exaggerate the distortions, to increase saturate color and add geometric forms to contrast with the organic shapes. The resulting paintings are what he calls “abstract reality” which often looks quite different from the original reflected image. Yet it carries the essence of the light, brilliant color and movement with strength and intensity that is unique in his paintings.
