Artist Biography
Kerry Alaric Cheeseboro is a born and bred New Yorker who, only recently, decided to try his hand at digital painting, using his own photos for contextual inspiration. The visuals he created in this short less-than-half year time are a result of this “marriage” of two media. In addition, even though the output is digital, Cheeseboro makes “brushes” (by hand black paint on white paper), specifically for each image, and then are scanned and converted into digital brush files. He calls this series of images “IMAGIO”.
Though his IMAGIO overall narrative mainly features African American subjects, Cheeseboro stresses that his artistic editorial is beyond the scope of “Afro-centricity” or being limited to issues of historical or present importance to African American culture, but is more meant to showcase vibrant life, energy, and the positive humanity inherent in most people, and the artists wants to see a greater number of people of his culture and heritage more visible in a wider range of creative expression. Other common subjects are city landscapes and pets/animals, an example of each can be found in the artist’s submitted set.
Sharing his art, Cheeseboro quickly got the attention of many admirers, who have now started ordering commissions requesting the incorporation of the client’s submitted photos. His submitted collection use images own photo images and custom digital brushes, yet he he has produced other works with photographs offered by others for artistic “interpretation”.
