Artist Biography

Brian is an artist from Los Angeles who grew up high on graffiti while glued to a paint brush.
He has a bachelor’s degree in fine art with an emphasis in figure painting from Azusa Pacific University located in Azusa, CA. Before moving back to California, he spent 10 years of his childhood living in Holland where he was exposed to many great artists such as Rembrandt and Vermeer, who have since impacted his style and flow.

Throughout his art career, Brian has identified with the growing graffiti movement captivated by bright colors and the unique rebellious attitude. After moving back to Los Angeles, viewers are able to see how his work has been heavily influenced by the fine art Dutch masters and the newer urban art of graffiti. As he furthers his art career, these two very different styles have repeatedly intertwined with each other and begun to dance on the same canvas.

Brian’s “Blockkid” theme represents a journey through life, and his wide array of work captures and highlights the decisions, hardships, joys, and victories that happen along the way. The power of the human experience creates connection between his work and allows many to resonate
with the emotions being portrayed in each piece. Whether it’s reflecting on the past, present, or future, Brian’s work invites viewers to remember their own personal stories.

In addition to painting in his studio, Brian also thrives off the energy and intensity that comes with painting murals. He has painted murals for non-profits, restaurants, schools, and business corporations all over the country, including LA, New York, and Florida. “It’s an addictive experience, to paint through the night, in the cold or the rain and push through whatever obstacle is thrown your way to stay focused on meeting that deadline.”

Brian, his wife (Danielle), and their newborn son (Jaxon), currently live in Crenshaw, CA.
